Digestive Cleansing Tea: Preparation Time: 20 minutes Bring to a boil: 5 cups pure water Add: 1 Tbsp. Fresh grated ginger root 1 Tbsp. Turmeric 1 Tbsp. Dried licorice root Cover and reduce heat to simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink. This tea was originally recommended by Dr. Sunil Joshi of Nagpur for days of fasting. It is especially helpful for the person with an inflamed and congested gut. The ginger is used to break down waste, the turmeric to purify the blood, and the licorice to calm inflammation. It would be generally not be used where there is inflammation without waste as the ginger could adversely increase heat.
